In the Atlantic Ocean, in the western part of the Azores archipelago, about 1800km away from the New World, you’ll find the islands of Flores and Corvo.
The last two islands to be discovered conceal a landscape of great beauty!
According to reports that date back a few centuries, the process of human settlement here was slow and difficult, particularly due to the volcanic eruptions that took place over time. At the end of this journey, you’ll understand why and surely the Azores will never leave you again – for many reasons. For the wild and exuberant natural landscape; for the many shades of green peppered with moistness; and for the infinite ocean whose colors change as the clouds dictate.
And, of course, for its people, who greet every traveler with a smile and naturally invite you to become a part of the family. This is the genuine Portugal and, despite the distance, it is very close to our hearts!

2: Farol de Albernaz – Fajã Grande

Overnight: Hotel 2*
Meals: Breakfast - Picnic

Our day starts in the agricultural road made of concrete at Farol (Lighthouse) Ponta de Albarnaz and ends in Fajã Grande, with the total duration of 6 hours.
After the visit to the westernmost Lighthouse in Europe, we start our hike in a concrete road that rises slightly up the hill spreading to the south. We’ll enter a trail surrounded by hydrangeas that will accompany us for the greater part of our journey.
The views along the trail are quite impressive. We’ll have the opportunity to appreciate the island of Corvo, the islander of Maria Vaz and the Ponta de Albernaz with the lighthouse that marked the beginning of our tour.
The end of the trail is a quiet descent marked by a fascinating landscape all the way to Fajã Grande.
Transport to the hotel; the rest of the day is free.

3: Boat trip to Corvo Island

Overnight: Hotel 2*
Meals: Brekafast - Picnic

In the morning, after breakfast, we’ll navigate in a semi-rigid boat towards Corvo. If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to see some of the amazing aquatic fauna that regularly crosses these waters – dolphins, cetaceans, tortoises, etc.
When we get to the smallest and most remote island of the Azores, we’ll head towards the caldera, which has been acknowledged as one of Portugal’s most photogenic locations. We’ll go trekking on the edges and the inside of the caldera, and then we’ll go down to follow the trail known as the Indian Face («Cara do Índio»).
In the middle of the afternoon, we’ll return to the island of Flores, crossing the channel that separates both islands.
Accommodation at the hotel and the rest of the day is free.

4: Lagedo – Fajã Grande

Overnight: Hotel 2*
Meals: Brekafast - Picnic

Today we’ll continue on the west coast of Flores. The trail we propose links Lageado and Fajã Grande, and we’ll walk it calmly in about 5 hours.
Once again, we’ll be walking surrounded by enormous natural beauty. En route, we’ll pass the villages of Mosteiros, Fajãzinha and Ribeira Grande, until we reach Fajã Grande, where the trail ends. We’ll walk mostly on beaten path track, ancient sidewalk and, occasionally, small sections of tar, mainly within the villages.
The views that we’ll experience throughout this tour include such diverse scenarios as the coastal landscape and traditional architecture, making it extremely rich and diversified.
At the end of the day we’ll return to the hotel and the rest of the time is free.

5: Lagoas viewpoint - Fajã Grande

Overnight: Hotel 2*
Meals: Breakfast - Picnic

This trail starts in Miradouro das Lagoas and ends in Poça do Bacalhau, lasting a total of 6 hours. The hike starts near the viewpoint next to Caldeira Comprida, followed then by a smaller trail alongside an area extremely rich in terms of endemic vegetation. The hike will lead us then to Caldeira Seca, a point to stop and contemplate. After this short stop, we’ll head towards Caldeira Branca and its swampy terrain. Continuing our journey, we’ll reach a beaten path track that will lead us to the crossing of the bridge Ribeira do Ferreiro and, later on, we’ll follow a short trail that heads towards the cliff. This trail includes signs of fog, of bigger dimensions to be easily recognizable. When we reach the cliff, we’ll have a beautiful sighting of Fajã Grande. From here, we’ll go down the cliff until we find a wooden gate that provides access to an old and inclined stone staircase. When we reach the pastures of Fajã Grande, we’ll follow the path alongside Ribeira das Casas to Poça do Bacalhau, where the trail ends. If the weather is hot, we can swim and freshen up here.
Return to the hotel. The rest of the day is free.
